Nashik is one of the most revered and holy cities for the Hindus. According to the Ramayana, Lord Ram along with his wife Sita and brother Laxman spent four months of his exile at Tapovan near Nashik. The major tourist destinations in and around Nashik include the theGangapur Dam,Dudhsagar Falls, Museum of Numismatics,AnjaneriParvat, Pandavleni Caves and a Bird Sanctuary "Nandur-Madhyameshwar. Nashik is also known for its wine that is exported to several foreign countries.
The Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple is located at the source of Godavari River. The Jyotirlingalocated here has free faces signifying Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh. It is covered by a jeweled crown with diamonds, emeralds and precious stones believed to be from the age of Pandavas. Devotees visiting to this temple also take a holy dip at the nearby Kusavarta, the symbolic origin of Godavari.
Panchvati has a special importance in Hindu mythology. It is believed to be the place where Lord Ram built his home and lived along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman during the exile period.Panchavati today has a number of temples. SitaGumpha is another important destination in Panchavati. It is believed that Ravana abducted Goddess Sita from this place.
ShaniSinganapur is a small village in Maharashtra known for the temple of Shani. This shrine has a five and a half feet high black rock installed on an open-air platform that signifies Lord Shani. This village is also famous for the fact that no house in the village has doors and no theft has been reported in the village. It is believed that Lord Shani will punish anyone attempting theft.
The temple premises of Shri Saibaba is spread in approximately 200 sq. mtrs. It is situated in the heart of Shirdi village and is a major center of pilgrims from all over the world. On an average, daily 25,000 devotees visit Shirdi village, to have the Darshan of Shri Saibaba. In the festival season, more than 1,00,000 devotees visit the Temple everyday. The Temple premises is renovated in the year 1998-99 and now is equipped with all necessary facilities like Darshan Lane, Prasadalay (Lunch and Dinner), Donation Counters, Prasad Counters, Canteen, Railway Reservation Counter, Book Stall etc. The accommodation facilities are also provided by the Sansthan.
