    Kanyakumari, also referred to as Cape Comorin earlieris located at the southernmost tip of India. It is the geographical end of the mainland. The closest major cities are Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, which makes it a popular tourist place in India. Kanyakumari takes its name from the Hindu Goddess Kanyakumari whose temple is situated in the town of it’s, on the sea-shore, and is very confluence of the three water-bodies – the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean. Kanyakumari has been a great centre for art and religion for centuries and was an area of great trade and commerce during rule of Cholas, the Cheras, the Pandyas and the Nayaks.

    The Brindavan Gardens are located adjoining the Krishna Raja Sagara dam built across the river Kaveri. These gardens are primarily symmetrically laid out terrace gardens extending over 60 acres. There is a boating pond in the garden where the visitors can enjoy a boat-ride.

    Kodaikanal in the hills of the taluk division of the Dindigul of Tamil Nadu is referred to as the "Princess of Hill stations" and has a long history as a retreat and popular tourist destination. Also named "The Gift of the Forest", Kodaikanal was established in 1845 as a refuge from the high temperatures and tropical diseases of the plains. Much of the local economy is based on the hospitality industry, which serves tourism. The earliest residents of Kodaikanal were the Palaiyar tribal people as the earliest references to Kodaikanal are found in Tamil Sangam literature of the early Common Era.

The town is connected to the rest of India by road and rail, having many historic sites and natural beauty, which attracts tourists.It was originally a tribal land, occupied by the Todas along with other tribes who coexisted through trade. A History states that the area which is now called as the 'Old Ooty' was originally occupied by the Todas who then handed over that part of the town to John Sullivan, the then Governor of Coimbatore.

    Hassan is situated 934 mts above sea level with fine weather similar to Bangalore. The town was founded in the 11th century, by Channa Krishnappa Naik and was called Hassan after the Goddess "Haasanamba". The place is called the temple-architectural capital of Karnataka. Hassan, the main city dates back to the 11th century, during the Hoysala dynasty, which lasted to the fourteenth century. The earlier kings of town were of the Jain faith, who built some finest temples here, dedicated to Shiva. While the Hoysalas were at the zenith of their power, much of southern India along with this place was under their influence.

    Halebidu

    Halebidu, located in Hassan, Karnataka was the regal capital of the Hoysala Empire in the 12th century. It is home to one of the best examples of Hoysala architecture temples. Halebidu literally means ruined city and this name is given to it because city was ruined two times by Bahmani Sultanate. Halebidu was the 12th century capital of the Hoysalas and the famous Hoysaleswara temple was built during this time by Ketamala, the Hoysala ruler. The temple complex comprises two Hindu temples, the Hoysaleshawara and Kedareshwara temples.

    Shravanabelagola is located in the Hassan district of Karnataka and is 158 km away from Bangalore. The statue of Gommateshvara Bahubali is one of the most important pilgrimage destinations in Jainism. The statue reached a peak in architectural and sculptural activity under the patronage of Western Ganga Dynasty of Talakad. Chandragupta is said to have died here in 298 BC after he became a Jain monk. Chandragiri has memorials to numerous monks who have meditated here since the fifth century AD, including the last king of the Rashtrakuta dynasty.

    Belur is one of the famous tourist places and was the early capital of the Hoysala Empire. The main attraction in Belur is the Chennakesava temple, containing the Chennakesava Temple as the centre piece, surrounded by the Kappe Chennigraya. There are two shrines at the place that are still in use by devotees. The Dravida style rayagopuram at the entrance was a later added by the Vijayanagar kings, who considered this deity as one of their family god. The temple is one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture, built by king Vishnuvardhana in commemoration of his victory over the Cholas.
