Pick-up from Chennai Airport / Railway station. Fresh up and proceed to Vaitheeswaran koil (275 kms. / 4 hrs.) visit Angaraka Temple (Angaraka / Mars) (15 kms.), Thiruvengadu Temple (Budha / Mercury) (10 kms.), Kezhaperumpallam Temple (Kethu) (7 kms.)- Kumbakonam (56 kms.).
Kumbakonam - Thirunallar Temple (Shani / Saturn) (57 kms.) Alangudi Temple (Guru / Jupiter) (73 kms.), Thingalur Temple (Chandra / Moon) (48 kms.), Suriyanaar Koil (Surya / Sun) (46 kms.) and back to Kumbakonam (15 kms.).

Pondicherry is an urban agglomeration and is affectionately known as Pondy. It has been officially known by the alternative name Puducherry since 2006. The geography of Pondicherry is the same as that of coastal Tamil Nadu as its average elevation is at sea level, and a number of sea inlets can be found. Pondicherry experiences coastal erosion and is protected against the sea by a 1.25 mile (long seawall. A weather-beaten cement plaque with the year 1952 is still visible along a section of the seawall, which is protected from the direct onslaught of waves by rows of granite boulders.
Kumbakonam is a town, located 40 kilometres from Thanjavur in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. It is the headquarters of the Kumbakonam taluk and is is bounded by two rivers, the Kaveri River to the north and Arasalar River to the south. Kumbakonam dates back to the Sangam period and was ruled by the Early Cholas, Pallavas, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Pandyas, the Vijayanagar Empire and the Thanjavur Marathas. It rose to be a prominent city between the 7th and 9th centuries AD. The town reached the zenith of its prosperity during the British Raj, being a prominent centre of European education and Hindu culture.
Sukra in Sanskrit means clean or pure. And that’s what Shukra stand for. Kanchanur temple or the Sukra Navagrahasthalam is one of the Navagraha temples at Thanjavur. Kanchanur Temple, also known as Bhrammapuri is situated in the vicinity of Thiruvavaduthurai near Kumbakonam. Kanchanur Temple, associated with Sukhran or the Venus, is famous for the festivals such as Mahasivarathri and Navarathri. It is believed that Lord Shiva blessed Parasaramuni with his Mukti Thandavam at the same place.

Guru Temple, also known as Lord Dakshinamurthy Temple is located at Alangudi. Lord Guru Bhagavan is referred to the planet Jupiter, and Alangudi is the "Guru Stalam" dedicated to the planet Jupiter. Thursday is considered an auspisious day for Lord Guru. The temple is known as the Arulmigu Abathsagayeswarar temple where the main deity is god of gods, Lord Shiva. There are also diety's of Lord Murugan with his consorts and Goddess of prosperity, Lakshmi. Legend has it that Alangudi is the place where Lord Shiva consumed the deadly poison as emitted during the churning of Sea of milk.
There is an interesting legend behind the temple dedicated to Lord Chandra, which is also known as Thingalur Temple. Lord Chandra married twenty seven daughters of DakshaPrajapati, but was in love with only one, Rohini. Daksha tried to correct Chandra, but he refused to change, so he cursed Chandra to fade into oblivion in every month. In Hindu astrology, Chandra represents softness, sensitivity, emotions, imagination and removes sorrow, ruling the mind.
Naganathaswamy Temple or Rahu Temple is one of the 9 Navagraha Temples in Tamil Nadu, associated to Lord Rahu. Rahu Temple or Sri Naganathaswamy Temple is located at Tirunageswaram, which is 7 km east of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur. The main presiding deity of Thirunageswaram Rahu Temple is Lord Shiva and his consort Goddess Parvathi. Rahu Bhagavan is seen with his two consorts. Sri Naganathaswamy Temple is one where Lord Shiva was worshipped by Rahu and got relived of a long lasting curse. A unique feature temple is that Lord Rahu is seen with human face while everywhere else Rahu is worshipped with a serpent face.
Vaitheeswaran Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva located in Tamil Nadu. Shiva is worshipped as Vaitheeswaran, here and it is believed that prayers to Vaitheeswaran can cure diseases. It is one of the nine Navagraha temples associated with the planet Angaraka. The village is also known for palm leaf astrology, located 27 km from Chidambaram and 110 km from Thanjavur. The holy waters within the temple complex contain nectar and a holy dip is believed to cure all diseases. The temple is revered by the Tevaram hymns of 7th century Saiva nayanars, famous Tamil saint poets and is also classified as a temple revered by the nayanars.
Budha (Mercury) planet is the child of Chandra and Tara. He was married to Ida, the daughter of Manu, and Pururava is believed to be his child. The ancient temple of Budh is situated between Kaveri and Manikarnika Rivers, in Thiruvenkadu, 20 in the state of Tamil Nadu. Thiruvenkadu literally means white and is believed a place, which has been named after Lord Indra’s elephant, Airawat. The place has been considered as sacred and has been referred in Shilappadikaram as well as in Valmiki Ramayan. The present day temple of lord Budha was constructed by Chola rulers.
Keezhaperumpallam is situated in the vicinity of Tiruvenkaadu near Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. The temple was built by Chola Kings as a place of remedies for the afflictions of the nodes Rahu and Ketu. The presiding deity here is Lord Valampurinatha. There is small shrine dedicated to Lord Nagaraja and idol of Ketu is visible throught the entrance. This is an ancient Saivaite shrine, where Ketu faces West in the Northern corridor. The signification of Ketu is salvation, sight, property, land, gold, vehicle, fame, wife, children, knowledge, business and unexpected gains.
Lord Shani Bhagavan, can be rightly described as the disciplinarian among the Navagrahas as he sculpts to perfection. Despite being one of the noted temples of Lord Shiva, Thirunallaru is better known as the abode of lord Shani. People afflicted by Sadhe Sati and those, who are going through the phase of Shani Dasa flock here to offer prayers to Shani. Thirunallar is located 5 kilometers west of Karaikal and is also one of the seven temples, 'Saptha Vidanga Sthalams', located near Thanjavur.
Swamimalai Murugan Temple is located in the township of Swamimalai on the banks of a tributary of river Cauvery. It is located 250 km from Chennai and is near to Thanjavur. It is one of the Arupadaiveedu, believed to be the six main abodes of Muruga as according to Hindu belief, Swamimalai is where Muruga preached "Pranava mantra" to his own father. Though this temple is considered as one of the Arupadaiveedu of Lord Muruga, the real Padaiveedu lies at a place called 'Thiruveragam'. In Swamimalai, Lord Muruga is known as "Swaminatha Swami". The temple has been built on an artificial hill.
