Lal Bagh Gardens

Lal Bagh Gardens is a famous botanical garden in southern Bangalore. The garden was originally commissioned by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore. It has a famous glass house which hosts an annual flower show, housing India's largest collection of tropical plants. It has an aquarium and a lake, and is one of the main tourist attractions in the city. Hyder Ali commissioned the building of this garden in 1760 but his son, Tipu Sultan, completed it who decided to create this garden on the lines of the Mughal Gardens that were gaining popularity during his time. Hyder Ali laid out these famous botanical gardens and his son added horticultural wealth to them by importing trees from several countries.

Ulsoor Lake

Formerly known as Ulsoor, Halasuru is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city of Bangalore. It is located in central Bangalore, begins roughly near the eastern terminus of MG Road and is renowned for its numerous temples and rather narrow streets. Ulsoor Lake, one of the biggest lakes in Bangalore, is located on the eastern side of the city. It derives its name from the locality, close to M G Road, It is spread over 123.6 acres and has several islands. Even though the lake is dated to Kempegowdas’ time, the present lake was created by Sir Lewin Bentham Bowring.

Cubbon Park

Cubbon Park is a landmark 'lung' area of the Bangalore city within the heart of city. It has a rich recorded history of abundant flora and fauna plantations coupled with numerous impressive and aesthetically located buildings. This public park was first named as “Meade’s Park” after Sir John Meade, the acting Commissioner of Mysore in 1870. To commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar’s rule in Mysore State, the park was again renamed Sri. Chamarajendra Park. The landscaping in the park creatively integrates natural rock outcrops with thickets of trees. The predominantly green area of the park has many motorable roads.

Bull Temple

Popularly known as the Bull Temple, Dodda Basavana Gudi is situated in the Basavanagudi, area of South Bangalore. The Hindu temple is inside the park called Bugle Rock where bull referred to is a sacred Hindu demi-god, known as Nandi, a close devotee and attendant of Shiva. Dodda Basavana Gudi is said to be the biggest temple of Nandi in the world with stone cult image of Nandi continually covered with new layers of butter. There is a cult image of the elephant-headed Hindu deity son of shiva Ganesha nearby. Every year on the last Monday and Tuesday of the Hindu month of Karthika Maasa a groundnut fair is held in the temple premises, known as 'Kadalekaayi Parishe' in local tongue.

Tippu's, Palace

Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace was the summer residence of Tipu Sultan till his death in 1799, the great Sultan died during the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War. Construction of palace was started by Hyder Ali within the walls of the Bangalore Fort and completed during the reign of Tipu Sultan in 1791. The magnificent structure has been built entirely with Teak Wood and stands adorned with pillars, arches and balconies. Other popular destinations from Benagluru are Bangalore Museum Ulsoor Lake, Bull Temple, Lal Bagh Gardens and Cubbon Park.

Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technology Museum

The Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore(VITM), India is a constituent unit of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was established in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya. This is a classical and modest building with a built up area of 4000 m2, was constructed in the breathtaking surrounding of the Cubbon Park, housing various scientific experiments and engines, which was opened by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 14.07.1962. The first gallery set up at VITM on the theme ‘Electricity” was opened to the public on 27.07.1965. In order to honour Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, the great visionary, celebrated engineer and statesman of our country, the All India Manufactures’ Organization, Mysore State Board, decided to set up a Science & Technology Museum at Bangalore and the foundation stone was laid by Shri B.D. Jatti, Chief Minister of erstwhile Mysore State on 15.09.1958.
